This week I started compiling thoughts for an eventual postmortem write-up. Even though I’m still working on Starcom: Nexus, at this point I want to commit some of my ideas to text while they’re still fresh. If you’re not familiar, a postmortem typically is a write-up of what went right and what didn’t during a project’s development. It turns out I have quite a few notes and may deviate from the standard format to deliver them in a style that is (hopefully) comprehensible yet interesting to a general audience.
Other than that, I’ve been fixing a few outstanding bugs and adding some more station news items for the next patch.
As another reminder there’s a Beta build of 1.0.10 available on Steam. This mainly implements a number of changes necessary for expanded localization, but there are also a few bug fixes. This is a non-save breaking patch so you can switch to it even if you’re mid-game.
As always, to switch to a beta branch:
- Right-click on the game in your Steam library and select Properties
- Go to the Beta tab
- In the drop down choose the appropriate Beta (in this case Release 1_0_10 preview). Leave the password field blank.
A couple dozen players have given it a go with no major issues, but I’d like to get a bit more testing before promoting it to default, particularly since last week saw an influx of new players.
